Opt out of Google Shared Endorsements

Recently, Google changed its TOS to allow it to use your name and or photo in its advertisements — similar to what Facebook has been doing for a while now, under a program called Shared Endorsements.  While this will be used mainly for allowing advertisers to show that you like their brand, we still don’t like the idea that I’m helping an advertiser out.  Luckily, Google has made it very easy to opt out of this “feature”.

As you can see, it’s as easy as visiting http://plus.google.com/settings/endorsements and unchecking the checkbox at the bottom and clicking save.

I did this with my Google+ account, or at least I thought I had, but on shecking I noticed that the page I had setup was still opted in, so just a note to all, if you have pages on Google+ then it appears you may have to do this for each page. I have only the one page so cannot go beyong that point, so if anyone has multiple pages it would be interesting to know if it is once for your main account and once for any/all pages or once per page.

Yes, each page needs their own.
